Week One

The Working Family Table Week

This is the page to open on Monday morning. It gives the family spine, the age lanes, the daily rhythm, classic rhymes and stories, practical academics, outside work, handwork, chores, and simple meals.

The Weekly Spine

Do this before adding more. The week should feel repeatable, grounded, and beautiful enough that the children want to return to it.

1

Morning Circle

Light a candle, say the weekly verse, sing one Mother Goose rhyme, count together, then begin the day.

2

Table Lesson

Keep academics short and exact. Reading, math, copywork, narration, and drawing all happen at the same family table.

3

Useful Work

Each child gets real work: knead, sweep, fold, rinse, sort, set the table, water plants, carry books, or prepare food.

4

Outside

Every day gets air, sky, weather, and observation. One small nature note is enough.

Ages together

Teach the same week in three levels.

The family studies one rhythm together. The difference is the amount of writing, memory, number work, and responsibility.

Ages 3-4

Goal: imitation, language, movement, sensory work, and cheerful participation.

  • Say the rhyme with hand motions.
  • Count real things to 10.
  • Draw with blocks, beeswax crayons, or watercolor.
  • Do one real job beside you.
  • Listen to the story without worksheets.

Ages 5-6

Goal: letter sounds, number sense, narration, fine motor strength, and memory.

  • Copy one beautiful word or short phrase.
  • Count, sort, add, and subtract with beans, stones, or buttons.
  • Narrate one sentence from the story.
  • Paint or draw one main image.
  • Complete one household job independently.

Ages 7-9

Goal: fluent reading practice, written narration, arithmetic, nature notes, and responsibility.

  • Read aloud for 10-15 minutes.
  • Copy two strong sentences or write a short narration.
  • Practice arithmetic facts and one word problem.
  • Keep a nature or recipe notebook.
  • Lead one part of the family rhythm.

Monday through Friday

The Actual Week

Each day has a clear anchor. The art, meal, chore, rhyme, story, academic work, and outdoor prompt all point in the same direction.
